A very nice console, the big gold dial was part of the Sears “Golden Jubilee” in 1936 for their 50th anniversary. 10-tubes, 4-bands (Broadcast, 2 shortwave, and Police). 12″ speaker, magic eye tuning and that beautiful gold dial that reminds you of a grandfather clock.

During the time that these were sold, there were two manufacturers, Colonial and Stewart-Warner, other than the chassis number the other way to tell them apart was that on the Colonial, the tuning knob is in the center, on the Stewart-Warner, the band-switch is in the center. We were lucky enough to have one of each model.

One went to our younger brother after restoration, the other had the chassis restored and was offered up as a project radio with the rough looking cabinet. After a long winter with no takers, the cabinet was restored and it now resides with Jeff. Both radios were purchased in Milwaukee from the original owners families.

Oddly enough the second radios power transformer started arching and we thought we had a lost cause and a couple of days later a gentleman right down the street from Jim posted on FB marketplace that he had a 4586 for sale, the cabinet was really trashed but the chassis was on good shape, the transformer we needed was found as well as a spare dial.

Final assembly after the cabinets came back from the fine folks at Furniture Renaissance in Racine, Wisconsin. Big shout out to the owner Dave for the work on both cabinets.
Quick test the chassis before putting back in the cabinet!
