When the United States entered the war in 1942 most if not all manufacturing was dedicated to the war effort and home radios weren’t sold again to the public until 1945. But being creative, Philco took the leftover car radios it had produced and put them into cabinets since the auto manufacturers were devoting their lines to the war effort as well. The A361 uses the F-42 car radio.

We have restored two of these, both went to some wonderful friends. Looking for a couple to restore and keep for ourselves One of the cabinets was refinished by Brad Lush of Ultimate Services in Zion, IL and the other just needed some Howards “Restor-a-Finish” and some “Feed-N-Wax” to look great.
